Possibly just like a lot of you, I’ve experienced a lifelong insecurity around my physical appearance. My hair is too curly, my skin is too dark, and so on the list goes. For a long time fell I shame into society’s unrealistic beauty standard, but then I thought no, we could do better. The beauty industry could (and should!) be more inclusive.

After graduating with a psychology degree, I worked as a researcher and counselor on human rights issue, but I wanted to do more. In 2017, I decided to go into hair school, juggling between working 9-to-5 in the office, and studying hair 5-to-9 in the evening. After a while, I decided to quit my full-time job to start Moonstone Hair Studio, and the rest is history.

I started Moonstone from a single dream: to empower through hair.

Moonstone started from a humble beginning in a tiny storage room that I converted into a studio. The dream was simple: to create a space where anyone feels welcomed to express their hair in a way that feels good to them.

We work by appointment only.
This allows us to give you our complete attention and privacy throughout your appointment.

Our studio specializes in intuitive haircutting and personalized lived-in hair color. We celebrate the beauty in individual differences. We love to listen to each client’s needs, personality, and pain points before we discuss the best steps to move forward in your hair journey.

We believe in a hair that not only looks good, but also makes you feel confident about yourself. Soul-centered hairstyling is an approach I started as a part of Moonstone, incorporating modern hair techniques with a sense of mindfulness and spirituality. It’s started with the purpose of empowering through hair as an extension of your soul expression. It’s a way to radically take back what it means to be beautiful and own it in a way that feels most aligned with your soul, whatever and however that might be.
